Medical Assistant - Behavioral Health

Medical AssistantJOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: Under the direction of the Behavioral Health clinic manager, the Medical Assistant assists nurses and other behavioral health providers in preparing for medical visits in accordance with agency policies and procedures.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Assists in rooming clients for their psychiatric appointment by taking vital signs and updating medication listDocuments client encounters accurately and timely in the EMRHelps maintain accurate records and data collection, including routine BH screeningsAssists RN with obtaining medications from the pharmacy for injections taking place at the clinicChecks fax machine daily and distributes forms to appropriate team member for reviewFollows nurse and provider orders as instructedCalls and/or faxes prescriptions in to pharmacies when instructedProvides patient education and informationParticipates in clinical meetings as neededAssists RN and medical providers with making phone calls and triaging client concernsPrepares and performs EKG test on clients when neededProvides translation services to clients as neededAssists other departments as needed upon availabilityEnsures organization in BH department including nurse office and injection roomCoordinates with the team during crisis situationsEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma - at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a community agency, public health or community health environment, preferably specializing in behavioral health. Experience with EPIC software is preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Requires Wisconsin Medical Assistant certification.Outreach Community Health Centers, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer
