Opportunity:


RN - CVICU


Job Details:


• Work 12-hour shifts with availability for both day shifts (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM) and night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Every third weekend rotation required
• No on-call responsibilities
• 1 to 2 holidays expected per contract
• Cannot work more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts per fatigue policy
• Minimum 3 years of ICU experience with at least 1 year of CVICU experience required
• First-time travelers accepted if experience requirements are met
• Patient ratios: 1:1 or 1:2 for regular ICU status, 1:3 for mixed status
• Care for cardiac patients including immediate post-op CABG, TAVR/TMVR, valve repairs/replacements, heart transplants, and pacemakers
• Manage thoracic surgery patients including fresh post-op esophagectomy, pneumonectomy, and lobectomy
• Manage vascular patients including fresh post-op AAA, TVAR, and carotid endarterectomy
• Must be competent in invasive line monitoring including Swan Ganz and arterial lines, pacemakers, chest tubes, cardiac medications, ventilator/trach management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• RN draws from invasive lines only; peripheral sticks not permitted
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Experience with ECMO, CVVH, IABP, and VAD preferred
• Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and GE monitors
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS; CCRN preferred
• Scrubs must be any solid color and professional with no graphics, logos, or designs
• Free parking available; day shift requires 1-2 block walk with shuttle service available, night shift has access to attached parking structure


Facility:


This facility is a 933-bed Level II Trauma Center and Magnet-designated hospital located in Milwaukee, WI. It also holds designations as a Level III NICU and Comprehensive Stroke Center. The CVICU unit features 30 beds and is supported around the clock by a dedicated CVICU Intensivist, CT Surgeon on call, Hospitalist, General Intensivist, and ICU-designated Respiratory Therapist. Additional support includes a charge nurse, HUC coverage 24/7, bedside and nurses station telemetry monitoring, and phlebotomy assistance for peripheral blood draws.
