Video Editor (Short-form Comedy)

Abstraction Media is a fast-growing production company based in West Hollywood, specializing in live comedy, podcasts, and digital content. Our work is highly-visible and reaches millions of viewers across our social channels. Position Overview We’re looking for a creative, fast-paced video editor who knows how to turn raw comedy footage into highly engaging short-form content. The ideal candidate will live and breathe comedy and social media editing, possessing an eye for pacing, punchlines, and visual rhythm that hooks viewers within the first few seconds. This is a full-time, in-office role where you’ll collaborate with a passionate creative team producing some of the most-watched stand-up and comedy content online. You should also be confident working independently with minimal direction while maintaining consistent tone, quality, and brand identity. If you love comedy, storytelling, and making people laugh, this is the job for you. Our team primarily edits in DaVinci Resolve, but editors proficient in similar NLEs who are open to learning Resolve are welcome to apply. Experience with motion graphics, color, and/or sound design is a plus. Responsibilities Watch, log, and identify strong comedic moments for potential short-form clips Edit platform-optimized videos for YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok Use on-screen text, pacing, and music cues to enhance comedic impact Create engaging titles, captions, and thumbnail images Collaborate with marketing and social teams to tailor clips for specific campaigns Edit comedic and visually exciting moments into montage-driven promotional videos Perform basic color correction, audio balancing, and sound cleanup Maintain consistent file organization and workflow standards across projects Contribute to refining and improving post-production processes over time Qualifications Advanced knowledge of DaVinci Resolve (or strong experience with similar NLEs and a willingness to learn Resolve) Skilled in comedy or entertainment editing – timing, pacing, and flow are critical Experience editing for social media and YouTube Strong understanding of codecs, resolutions, and export settings for digital platforms Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Up-to-date with internet culture, humor trends, and editing styles Familiarity with After Effects and Photoshop a plus Basic knowledge of color grading and audio mixing a plus Comfortable working in Basecamp, Airtable, Google Drive, and similar collaboration tools Please submit your portfolio, reel, and resume with your application.
