Maintenance Technician

Description

The Maintenance Technician keeps our vacation rental homes safe, comfortable, and guest-ready. Traveling between multiple homes each day, this role combines hands-on repairs, preventative maintenance, and property inspections with responsive service to guests and owners. Working closely with Property Managers, housekeeping, and the operations team, the Maintenance Technician helps ensure every stay is welcoming and every home performs at the standard our guests and owners expect.
Maintenance & Repairs

• Complete maintenance tasks and projects across multiple worksites each day, traveling between homes in your assigned territory.

• Perform general repairs, preventative maintenance, and routine inspections so our homes stay well maintained and welcoming for guests and owners.

• Respond promptly to assigned work orders for guest-reported issues, including:

- Appliance troubleshooting

- Cable and Wi-Fi troubleshooting

- Basic HVAC repair

- Light plumbing, such as leaky faucets

- Basic electrical work, such as replacing light bulbs and fixtures

- Painting, cleaning, and troubleshooting repairs inside homes

- Drywall repair and basic carpentry

• Identify and document larger maintenance concerns that require professional attention and communicate them promptly to the Property Manager or appropriate contractor.

• Coordinate with third-party service providers to schedule, direct, and verify completed work.

• Assist with grounds maintenance and upkeep and collect and remove trash and debris.
Inspections & Guest Readiness

• Evaluate the condition of vacant units, checking for cleanliness, damage, and maintenance needs.

• Confirm that each home meets cleanliness and functionality standards before guest and owner arrivals.

• Prepare homes for arrival by overseeing cleaning processes, restocking supplies, and completing final walkthroughs.

• Deliver requested items to guests during their stay to support a great experience.
Work Orders & Documentation

• Manage assigned maintenance tasks through the in-house assignment system, respond quickly to time-sensitive needs, and follow through until each task is complete.

• Maintain accurate records of inspection findings, maintenance requests, and inventory levels.

• Provide clear, detailed communication and documentation of issues to the Operations Manager.
Teamwork & Communication

• Build open, collaborative relationships with teammates and the management team, and correspond regularly with your local management team.

• Be available and willing to assist colleagues and management when needed.

• Provide cross-coverage with the housekeeping department when necessary, so urgent issues are addressed.

• Help train Inspectors and Cleaners on job duties and expectations, and help build schedules for inspections, maintenance tasks, and cleaning personnel.

• Attend all mandatory individual and team meetings.
On-Call & Additional Duties

• Share on-call responsibility for after-hours emergencies on a rotating schedule with another team member.

• Take on other responsibilities as assigned, because every day looks different

Requirements

• Highly organized, reliable, and a strong team player who meets deadlines.

• Self-motivated with strong follow-up and follow-through, and the ability to see projects through to completion.

• Customer service oriented, with a friendly, professional approach to guests and owners.

• Keen eye for detail.

• Working knowledge of basic appliance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, drywall, and carpentry repair.

• Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and current auto insurance.

• Successful completion of a background screening.
Experience

• Minimum 1 year as a maintenance technician (preferred).
Education

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).

Physical Requirements

• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

• Bend, kneel, and squat frequently to inspect properties, check appliances, and make repairs.

• Climb ladders and stairs and navigate uneven terrain to reach areas such as attics, roofs, and high shelves.

• Walk and stand for extended periods during inspections and property walkthroughs.

• Use hand tools and equipment with dexterity and coordination.

• Visually identify maintenance issues, cleanliness standards, and inventory levels.

• Work indoors and outdoors in a range of conditions, including hot and cold weather.
