School Psychologist (2026-2027 SY) Job ID: 5600952 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Mar 23, 2026 4:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: To Be Determined Job Description Position Summary: The School Psychologist delivers comprehensive psychological services to support students’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development. This role includes conducting psychoeducational and behavioral assessments, analyzing data to inform decision‑making, and providing counseling and consultation to educators and families. The School Psychologist collaborates in program planning and service delivery, supports the special education process, and ensures compliance with school board policies and state and federal regulations to promote optimal learning experiences and improved outcomes for all students. Preferred Qualifications: Applicants for the position must hold or be eligible to hold VA licensure as a School Psychologist. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, parents/guardians, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in working with sensitive student information Proficiency with technology tools for collaboration, documentation, and communication (e.g., Google Drive) Demonstrated dependability, punctuality, and reliability Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for students of diverse backgrounds and needs Performance Responsibilities: Conduct psychological evaluations, diagnostic testing, and reports for appropriately referred students to determine eligibility for special education services Select and administer appropriate assessment tools based on referral concerns Complete initial evaluation and re‑evaluations of students receiving special education services as required Interpret and communicate assessment results to parents, teachers, and IEP teams Prepare comprehensive psychological evaluation reports Consult with teachers, administrators, parents, and school teams regarding student learning, behavior, and emotional needs Participate in Child Study, eligibility, and IEP meetings as needed Provide recommendations for instructional strategies, behavioral supports, and interventionsCollaborate with community agencies and outside service providers when appropriate Support school staff in creating environments conducive to student psychological growth Assist with procedures related to evaluation, eligibility, and placement of students with disabilities Provide professional development and in‑service training for school personnel Maintain required documentation, assessment materials, and records in compliance with regulations Complete documentation necessary for Medicaid billing when applicable Assist with legal hearings or appeals related to special education evaluations when necessary Maintain professional collaboration and contribute to a positive team environment Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education FLSA Status: Exempt Reports To: Director of Special Education Salary SALARY BASED ON THE 2026-2027 PSYCHOLOGIST SALARY SCALE Current qualified employees of Wythe County Public Schools may submit a letter of interest.
