Hourly Wage Estimate: $26.52 – $40.90 / hour Job Summary HCA/HealthONE is seeking an ambitious Histotechnologist to support laboratory operations from neonatal through geriatric patients. The role ensures quality, safety, and compliance with CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, and CLIA. Responsibilities Provide quality, safe, accurate, and timely testing for neonatal through geriatric patients in compliance with CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, and CLIA 88 standards. Integrate current scientific knowledge with technical competency related to the Pathology Department. Continuously strive to improve clinical testing, confidence, and knowledge through formal and informal education. Maintain knowledge of age-related patient care quality. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of laboratory equipment and instruments, or refer to appropriate sources for repairs. Qualifications Shift: 9:00 am – 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday. ASCP preferred; registration eligible; employment contingent on licensure. AS or BS degree in related sciences preferred. Minimum of 2 years’ experience demonstrating required knowledge and expertise. Working knowledge of all histology procedures: embedding, microtomy, tissue processing, fixation, decalcification, routine and special staining, and immunohistochemistry. Familiarity with all equipment in the histology laboratory. Good communication skills. Ability to embed 75 blocks per hour, cut 50 slides per hour, and perform H&E stain with consistent results. Ability to perform all special stains and IHC procedures without unnecessary repeats. Ability to cut and stain frozen sections within 5 minutes. Ability to perform all cytology slide preparation work. Ability to order pathology specimens accurately and efficiently. Ability to provide quick, accurate customer service. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately. Ability to adjust to changing workload.
