Registered Nurse (RN)

The position is within an Emergency Room (ER) and Medical-Surgical unit. The unit features 10 patient rooms and averages approximately four patients per day.

Shift Details

• Nights, 12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required

Years of Experience Required

• Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience
• 2 years of experience in both Emergency Room (ER) and Medical-Surgical settings
• Critical Access Hospital experience is preferred

Required Certifications

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)

Role Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will work alongside another RN to provide care for patients in the med/surg, outpatient, and emergency departments. Responsibilities include:

• Performing typical nursing procedures such as IV starts and Foley catheter insertions
• Collaborating with the healthcare team for patient care
• Floating between med/surg, outpatient, and the emergency department as needed

Equipment Utilized

• EPIC electronic health record system
• Philips central monitor/telemetry
• Lifepak 15

Nurse to Patient Ratio

The nurse to patient ratio typically averages between 1:2 and 1:3, with a maximum of 1:6, depending on patient census and assignments.

Dress Code

Navy scrubs are required.

Orientation and Training

Orientation for traveling nurses is tailored to individual needs and can last up to one week. It includes opportunities to experience both day and night shifts to understand the functioning of each shift.

Additional Comments

The ideal candidate will possess all required certifications and should be able to cover the emergency room as needed. Flexibility in expectations may apply if the candidate cannot fulfill all requirements.
