Job Overview

We are actively seeking qualified candidates for the role of Part-Time Clinical Nursing Faculty to join our BSN Nursing program in Hawaii , specifically on the islands of Maui, Oahu, Lanai, and Kauai. Position Details

As a Clinical Nursing Faculty member, you will mentor students in an inpatient clinical setting on Maui, helping them connect theoretical knowledge from the classroom and simulations to practical patient care. This vital role ensures that our students are well-equipped and confident in delivering high-quality healthcare.

Scheduling Information
  • Schedules are determined by course requirements and clinical specialties for each 8-week session.
  • Typically, clinical instructors are assigned 3-4 consecutive 12-hour shifts over a span of 1-2 weeks per session.
  • Please be aware that additional dates may not be available, and clinical dates are not guaranteed for every session.

No prior teaching experience is necessary; we encourage nurses with substantial clinical experience and a completed MSN to apply!

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical instruction and service to the College, community, health system, and profession.
  • Take responsibility for all aspects of individual teaching loads.
  • Plan clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students delivering care.
  • Be available to staff at clinical agencies.
  • Assess and provide documented feedback to students regarding their performance based on course objectives.
  • Offer remediation to students as necessary.
  • Stay informed about agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations with support from agency personnel.
  • Develop and assign written clinical tasks aligned with students' knowledge, skills, and learning needs.
  • Grade and return assignments, quizzes, tests, and other written work promptly.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and the College.
  • May teach didactic content under the supervision of the course coordinator.
  • Keep the course coordinator updated on student and agency issues.
  • Collaborate with college administration, staff, and faculty to enhance overall college operations and student satisfaction.
  • Participate in the College Assessment Program, campus retention initiatives, and departmental policies.
  • Serve as a professional role model in customer service, collaboration, communication, and overall professionalism.
  • Utilize relationship skills for group problem-solving and consensus-building.
  • Adhere to all relevant regulatory rules and standards.
  • Report to the dean or assistant dean, with direct oversight from a course coordinator.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A master's or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
  • An unencumbered professional RN nursing license in Hawaii.
  • An Illinois RN License is required to teach all courses (preference given to professors currently licensed in Illinois).
  • Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network.
  • A minimum of two years of professional nursing experience within the last five years in the relevant instructional area.
Additional Information

In compliance with pay transparency laws, the expected compensation for this position ranges from $1,120 to $7,245 per assignment. Our hiring team is available to address any questions you may have, and we look forward to discussing your salary expectations.
