About the Role:

A highly respected trial-focused litigation firm is seeking an experienced Junior Complex Commercial Litigation Partner or Senior Counsel to join its growing commercial litigation practice in Dayton or Cincinnati, Ohio. This is an excellent opportunity for a sophisticated litigator who is ready to take meaningful ownership of complex matters without the immediate expectation of building a personal book of business from scratch.

The successful candidate will serve as a lead attorney on sophisticated commercial litigation matters, working closely with relationship partners to develop case strategy and independently manage execution. The role offers significant responsibility, direct client exposure, leadership opportunities, and the ability to become a trusted case leader within an established practice.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take primary day-to-day responsibility for assigned complex commercial litigation matters.
• Work with relationship partners to develop case strategy and translate strategic objectives into actionable litigation plans.
• Manage litigation teams, deadlines, discovery, experts, motion practice, depositions, hearings, and trial preparation.
• Serve as a primary internal point of contact and, where appropriate, communicate directly with clients and opposing counsel.
• Anticipate legal and strategic issues, identify risks, and keep matters progressing with minimal supervision.
• Delegate and supervise work performed by associates, paralegals, and other litigation team members.
• Review and refine pleadings, briefs, motions, correspondence, and other written work product to ensure accuracy, quality, and strategic effectiveness.
• Prepare relationship partners for hearings, depositions, negotiations, and strategic decisions while independently handling those matters when appropriate.
• Maintain clear communication with internal stakeholders regarding case developments, strategic decisions, deadlines, and client needs.
• Develop efficient systems and processes to support the firm's growing litigation docket.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients through responsive, practical, and high-quality legal representation.

Required Qualifications:

• J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
• Active admission to the Ohio Bar, or eligibility to obtain Ohio admission promptly.
• Significant experience handling complex commercial litigation matters.
• Strong substantive and procedural knowledge of commercial litigation.
• Demonstrated experience with depositions, hearings, motion practice, and trial preparation in state and federal courts.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple sophisticated matters, competing deadlines, and demanding litigation teams.
• Strong leadership and delegation skills with the ability to supervise attorneys, paralegals, and other professionals.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to understand the broader objectives of a matter while maintaining close attention to detail.
• Strong client service skills and the ability to develop trusted relationships with existing clients.
• High degree of ownership, initiative, responsiveness, and sound professional judgment.
• Strong academic credentials are preferred.
