Physician Assistant | Surgery - Cardiothoracic Location: Portsmouth, VA Employer: AAS Locum Tenens Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Start Date: ASAP About the Position We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant for a locums assignment in Portsmouth, Virginia. This position provides primarily inpatient adult cardiothoracic surgery coverage with a combination of daytime clinical responsibilities and night/weekend call. Position Highlights Minimum Commitment: 2-week on / 2-week off rotation Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM Night Call: 3:00 PM–7:00 AM Weekend Call: 24-hour call, 7:00 AM–7:00 AM Weekend Rounding: Required Patient Population: 100% Adult Inpatient: 75% Outpatient: 25% Patients on Rounds: Approximately 5–10 EMR: Epic Responsibilities Provide inpatient and outpatient cardiothoracic surgery care for adult patients. Perform daily rounds and evaluate postoperative patients. Assist with patient management, treatment planning, and coordination of care. Respond to clinical needs and consults during assigned night and weekend call. Collaborate with surgeons, physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team. Complete timely and accurate documentation in Epic. Participate in weekend rounds and provide continuity of care. Requirements Board Certified or Board Eligible Physician Assistant Active Virginia license Active DEA registration Cardiothoracic surgery experience required Ability to participate in a 2-week on / 2-week off rotation
