What You’ll Be Doing As a Master Control Operator, you will be the quality control for all technical aspects of our news and sports programming. You will be responsible for audio mixing, video editing, graphic design, closed captions, video quality, spelling, and more. As a member of the production team, you will collaborate with your colleagues to produce accurate, engaging, informative, and entertaining broadcasts. You will work in a fast‑paced environment that requires you to multitask and keep an eye out for any issues that might arise. Requirements Experience : Experience working in television news, 0-2 years Education : High School diploma Technical Skills : Advanced knowledge of a variety of broadcast equipment and technology, including standard and high‑definition operations, non‑linear edit systems, VTRs, server‑based recording/playback devices, server networking, broadcast routers, and intercom panels. Skills : Strong technical aptitude and experience with television control room and studio production technology, such as automated on‑air playout systems, newsroom editorial software, non‑linear editing systems, microwave/satellite systems, bonded cellular systems, and router systems. Abilities : Ability to organize and manage shifting priorities under tight deadlines and in pressure situations, ability to multitask and adapt quickly to change, push/pull/maneuver equipment up to 50 lbs. Schedule : Ability to work various shifts, longer shifts, weekends, holidays, and be flexible with schedule changes due to breaking news or severe weather emergencies. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or related field, comparable television work experience preferred. Working Conditions Normal office environment Communicate in person, by phone, and by email Ability to distinguish colors and discern sounds Compensation The base pay for this position generally is between $20.00 and $31.00 per hour. The actual compensation offered will consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and, for certain positions, are eligible for additional incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
