Job Summary

The Engine Test Engineer is responsible for CFR compliant emissions testing, test plan development, communication with the customer, data quality control, and data analysis. This position is also responsible for documentation of calibrations, operating procedure and technician check lists as well as changes to the equipment and continuous improvement to ensure CFR compliance. The Emissions Engineer is also responsible for leading the troubleshooting of test engine or vehicle and equipment as needed to support ESWA’s testing services.

• Develop test plans and conduct engine performance testing and vehicle testing
• Communication with Customers
• Troubleshoot and provide hands-on support in test cell
• Performs data analysis for internal and external projects
• Validate test systems for data processing, functionality checks, safety, and quality checks
• Follows, updates and communicates standard tests cell operating procedure
• Uses Process Change and ISO procedures to document changes to procedure, test equipment and preventative or corrective actions
• Provides instructions and check lists for test cell technicians
• Participates in engineering meetings and training sessions
• Follows state and company safety regulations, policies, and rules

Job Skills

• Knowledge of test equipment calibration and CFR regulations
• Solid understanding of engine and emission test equipment
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to tests / modify test instrumentation
• Strong analytical capabilities involving data analysis and logical interpretation
• Advanced judgement and decision-making abilities
• Self-motivated and results driven
• Team Player and good communication skills

Required/Preferred Education and Experience

Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

Preferred Education: Master’s Degree in Engineering

Required Experience: 1-3 years’ work experience

Preferred Experience: 3+ years in a similar position

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and includes an unpaid lunch break of at least thirty (30) minutes. Depending on customer needs and test campaigns, extended hours can be expected, as well as some weekends support as needed.

Travel

Occasional travel during the work day may be required between facility locations, approximately 1 mile apart. Travel to off-site locations may be required to support specific customers or test campaigns.
