Project Manager

Champion Door North America is the U.S. and Canadian sales and contracting arm of Champion Door Oy—an international leader in vertical-lifting fabric doors for aviation, industrial, and defense facilities. We are expanding our project delivery team and seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee large door system projects from contract through commissioning across the U.S. and Canada. This position is ideal for a hands-on professional who can manage multiple projects simultaneously, coordinate between North American customers and European engineering teams, and ensure Champion Door’s high standards for quality, safety, and performance are met in every installation. Key Responsibilities Project Leadership: Serve as the single point of contact for assigned projects from order to final turnover. Planning & Scheduling: Develop detailed project timelines, submittal packages, and installation plans in collaboration with Champion Door Oy engineering and production teams. Technical Coordination: Review drawings and specifications, manage structural and electrical interfaces, and coordinate with general contractors, engineers, and end users. Field Oversight: Supervise site installation and commissioning activities, manage subcontractors, and verify compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety requirements. Budget & Documentation: Monitor project budgets, issue progress billings, manage change orders, and prepare closeout documents including O&M manuals and as-built records. Compliance & Safety: Maintain OSHA 30 certification; ensure site safety standards are met. Communication: Coordinate regularly with North American and European business units; prepare weekly progress reports and participate in team review meetings. Process Development: Support the creation of installation standards, service playbooks, and subcontractor qualification systems as the North American business grows. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field (or equivalent experience). Minimum 5 years of experience managing industrial or construction projects—preferably involving metal buildings, hangar doors, cranes, elevators or large mechanical systems. Strong understanding of construction contracts, submittal processes, and scheduling tools (MS Project or equivalent). Excellent communication and client-facing skills; able to lead coordination with general contractors, architects, and end users. Ability to travel approximately 30% across the U.S. and Canada for site visits and project meetings. Must be able to pass background checks for access to military or defense-contractor facilities. Comfortable working with and communicating daily with European colleagues (Finland, France, etc.) across time zones. OSHA 30 certification required (or willingness to obtain). Ability to operate personnel lifts and boom lifts at height is a plus (certification training provided if needed).
