Bus Aide

RSU 63 is seeking a dependable, student-focused individual to serve as a Bus Aide on a special education bus route during both morning and afternoon transportation. Additional hours may be available based on the needs of the Transportation Department. Responsibilities Ride with students during morning and afternoon transportation. Assist with student behavior, redirection, and assigned seating arrangements. Monitor students while the bus is moving and encourage safe, appropriate, and respectful behavior. Work cooperatively with the bus driver to maintain a safe, positive, and orderly environment. Support students with appropriate activities, including use of the television available on the bus. Report safety or behavioral concerns to the bus driver and Transportation Director. Maintain student confidentiality at all times. Qualifications Patient, dependable, and comfortable working with students. Able to respond calmly and appropriately to student needs and behaviors. Able to work cooperatively with transportation and school staff. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must successfully complete the Maine Department of Education Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) and receive the required Maine DOE approval.
