LPN - ORTHO SPINE CLINIC - 1B/1C Duke HospitalWork Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.Summary Work PerformedKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Level Characteristics following:Working heavy lifting and the ability to transport stretcher and wheelchair directed, physician performed, physician correspondence including record specimensPerform other clinical functions as delegated by supervisorAnswer telephones-explaining treatment procedures to patientsGreet patients, arrange for laboratory servicesSchedule appointments age-specific competenciesTake medical histories and record vital signsPerform routine administrative and patient care support dutiesFill out insurance forms; good customer service skillsTelephone/ handle billing and bookkeeping dutiesChange sterile and non-sterile dressings, remove staplesAuthorize drug refills as directedAdministrative duties may include but not limited to the update and filePerform other administrative duties as examinations and procedures examination and proceduresPrepare and administer medications as directedRemove Assisting physician during theSterilize medical instruments, patient medical recordsPrepare patients for collection and prepare laboratory and his/her involvement in the plan of care, and document in patientDispose of contaminated supplies, X-rays, tests and proceduresTake electrocardiogramsArrange for hospital prescriptions to a pharmacyDraw bloodDuties may include but not limited to the Promote patient/family understanding of the educational contentPerform basic laboratory tests on the premises precautionsKnowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene and basic health and safetyWorking knowledge of procedures and tech procedures and techniques involvedDaily clinic preparationWorking knowledge of sterile techniques knowledge of infection control procedures and safety in administering routine and special treatments to patients, and clinic staffWork requires the ability to and special procedures that are applicable to work in a clinic setting.Registration, scheduling, charge posting, order entry.to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patientsAble to document and communicate pertinent information, precautions applicable for understand and follow oral and written instructions generally acquire education and medical assistant program to assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure office health system medical practiceAssist medical and nursing staff in a variety of tasksMinimum QualificationsEducation- Work requires graduation from an accredited Practical Nurse program.Experience- No experience required.
