Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in Lafayette, Indiana.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Labor and Delivery\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 10/06/2026\n Duration: 12 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, days\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Days, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Oct 6, 2026\n Length: 12 weeks\n Openings: 2\n Description\n American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and current NRP/FHM certification.Details\n \n Labor and Delivery unit within a short-term acute care hospital\n Day shift schedule, 2x12-hour shifts from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM\n Follows AWHONN staffing guidelines, typically 1:1 for active labor, 1:2 for non-active labor, and up to 1:3 for triage or antepartum patients\n Handles labor, induction, scheduled and unscheduled C-sections, C-section with salpingectomy, SROM, PPROM, hypertension, preeclampsia, and antenatal/triage patients\n Uses CADD epidural pumps, Alaris IV pumps, Phillips wired/wireless monitoring, Periwatch, Hillrom labor beds, Draeger Radiant warmers, vein light, and v-scan\n MCH float required\n On-call required every 3rd weekend\n Floating required to affiliate hospitals nearby as needed\n Requirements\n \n Active IN or compact RN license required and must be in hand prior to start\n Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required\n Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, FHM\n Cerner charting experience required\n Community hospital experience preferred\n Charge experience preferred\n Nursing degree must be from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation\n 2 supervisor references required\n SSN and DOB required for consideration\n Additional Information\n \n Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including antepartum, high-risk antepartum, and postpartum management\n Assist with vaginal and C-section deliveries, including circulating and recovering C-section patients\n Support neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and neonatal resuscitation\n Provide newborn care including newborn assessment, phototherapy, and discharge teaching to parents\n Manage high-acuity conditions such as HELLP syndrome, preeclampsia/eclampsia, preterm labor, and VBAC/trial of labor\n Must work 2 of 3 major holidays\n Local candidates are not accepted for this position\n First-time travelers are welcome to apply\n Free parking provided\n Any current or former IU Health perm/PRN employee must be separated for 12 months before applying as a traveler\n Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must take a designated break to reset eligibility (3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents)\n RTO of 5 days or less can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-756420.
