Phlebotomist Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented and computer-savvy phlebotomist with excellent customer service skills to join our team at a patient services center in East Elmhurst. This role requires experience in phlebotomy, preferably over two years, and proficiency in using straight needles. The phlebotomist will be responsible for entering patient information into the system, drawing blood, and processing samples.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient entry upon arrival.
- Conduct 20-40 blood draws per day using straight and/or butterfly needles.
- Enter data and process samples, including labeling specimens.
- Handle specimen collection and storage according to established procedures.
- Record maintenance data and perform decontamination tasks.
- Update patient information in the internal system.
- Demonstrate techniques for blood collection using various needles.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
Essential Skills
- 1 or more years of phlebotomy experience, preferably 2+ years.
- Experience using straight needles.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Detail-oriented and proficient with computers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in venipuncture and blood drawing.
- Experience in MA (Medical Assistant) tasks.
- Knowledge of specimen processing and centrifuge operations.
- Bilingual skills and experience in geriatrics.
- Minimum education: High school diploma or GED.
Work Environment
The position is based in a patient services center in East Elmhurst, Queens. The work schedule is Monday-Thursday and every Saturday or Tuesday-Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm, totaling 25 hours weekly with potential for additional hours. The environment involves handling 30-50 patients per day, with no night, weekend, or floating shifts required. The role offers a competitive pay and the opportunity to work in one of the largest diagnostic lab companies.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Elmhurst, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.31 - $23.31/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
