WeWork is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Real Estate Counsel to join its dynamic legal team to assist in managing and growing its global footprint of over 28 million square feet. Key Responsibilities Transactional Execution: large commercial office leases, management agreements, lease amendments, subordination and non-disturbance agreements, estoppel certificates. Asset Management & Operational Support: legal interpretation of existing leases, support to business units on asset‑related questions, emerging issues, escalations, and potential disputes. Real Estate Due Diligence for Strategic Initiatives: conduct thorough real estate due diligence, identify and assess real‑estate‑related risks and opportunities. Optimization: collaborate in the development, refinement, and continuous improvement of internal legal processes and best practices. Strategic and Practical Legal Advice: deliver timely, strategic, and practical legal advice to internal clients at all organizational levels, translating legal concepts into clear, actionable recommendations. Education Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree or foreign equivalent from an accredited institution. Bar Admission New York State Bar admission or eligibility to register as in‑house counsel within New York. Experience & Qualifications Minimum of five years of direct experience in leasing and commercial real estate practice. Background that combines top‑tier law firm training with in‑house exposure is highly preferred. Demonstrated ability to proactively identify novel and complex legal issues, manage escalation, and translate intricate legal requirements into clear, risk‑based recommendations. Strong judgement and ownership: take accountability, operate independently with minimal oversight, and maintain high standards of quality and efficiency. Team player: collaborate seamlessly within cross‑functional environments; excellent organizational skills; prioritize and manage competing demands. Ability to meet deadline‑driven results, embrace change, and demonstrate resilience in a dynamic environment. Compensation & Benefits Base Pay: $200,000 to $230,000 annually. Incentive Compensation: eligible for a role‑specific incentive plan. Benefits include 20 days of PTO, approximately 13 paid holidays, 80 hours of paid sick time per year, 16 weeks paid parental leave, competitive healthcare, 401(k) plan, and life & AD&D insurance.
