CNC Vertical Mill Machinist Hurco - Swing Shift \n

\n The Vertical Mill Machinist is a full-time non-exempt position. \n

\n Hours for the position: \n
\n
\n Swing Shift: Monday - Thursday 4pm - 2:30am \n
\n
\n $30-$36 hourly plus 10% Swing Shift differential \n
\n

\nThe job summary: \n
\n
\n Machine parts to tolerance based on blue print requirements with a variety of metals and plastics using CNC machines. \n
\n
\n While not inclusive, this position will provide support in the following areas of the Hurco Department: \n
\n
\n Programming: \n
\n

\n
• Obtain approval prior to changing, editing, or updating any CNC programs, and maintain program log as required by management business systems.
\n
• Though understanding of Conversational & G-code controls.
\n
• Plan machining by studying work orders, drawings, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
\n
• Ability to select cutting tools for optimum performance in a variety of metals and plastics.
\n

\n Machining: \n
\n

\n
• Obtain and execute directions from the Department Supervisor.
\n
• Monitor and protects the assets of the company and insure that appropriate tooling is used for each job.
\n
• Set-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three and four-jaw chucks, vises, tools, various attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.
\n
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
\n
• Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
\n
• Adhere to all quality policies and meets company quality goals of on-time delivery of completed parts without compromising quality, safety or equipment life.
\n
• Sets up milling machines by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tools, offsets, and tool compensation; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
\n

• Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to quality standards.
\n
• Maintain quality standards by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
\n
• Identifies errors and troubleshoots as possible. Escalates unresolved issues to supervisor

\nThe experience you have: \n
\n
\n Education: Required: High School diploma or GED. Preferred: Associate Degree, Machine Tool Technology, or related subject-area; or Trade School Certification in a related discipline or Apprenticeship. \n
\n
Required: 5 years' experience as a Machinist in a precision machine shop. Preferred: Experience as a journeyman machinist in a precision machine shop with conversational experience. Basic computer skills with the ability to operate within a MS Windows environment, using email for communication. Usage of Data Collection software and ERP system is required.\n
\n
\n Computer Skills: Minimum ability to operate within a Windows environment, using email for communication. Usage of Data Collection software. \n
\n
\n Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical data, schematics, prints and travelers is required. Effective interpersonal communication skills through a variety of methods is required. \n
\n
\n Mathematical Skills: Basic Math Skills: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Metric to Standard Conversion, Fractions to Decimals. \n
\n
\n Reasoning Skills: Requires the ability to define complex problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. The ability to interpret a wide range of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form is an on-going requirement. \n
\n
\n Physical Demands: This position requires standing for the majority of the day. Walking, bending, kneeling,squatting,stooping,handling,fingering,reaching,lifting,and pulling are necessary throughout the day as well. \n
\n
\n Work Environment: The work environment for this position is that of an industrial machine shop/production facility. Employees may experience loud noises, (at varying levels), sharp edges(tooling and material), oil, and coolant throughout the workday. \n
