Respiratory Therapist (Adults)

Position Information

This role involves performing respiratory therapy procedures as per protocol and physician orders to enhance the cardiopulmonary conditions of patients from newborns to geriatrics. The primary focus is on patients in critical care, adult general care, and pediatric general care settings.

Work Schedule

• Shift: 3x12-hour shifts, rotating days of the week, with varied shifts.
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
• Call Requirements: To be discussed during the interview.

Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• Nevada State License (must have prior to start)
• Must apply for State of Nevada Point of Care Analyst license, Director of Point of Care, or General Supervisor of Point of Care before commencing work.
• AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required prior to start.

Experience Required

Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years of acute care respiratory therapy experience, including recent critical care experience. Prior travel experience of at least one 13-week assignment is also required.

Position Purpose

The Clinical Respiratory Therapist is tasked with the assessment, planning, implementation of care, and evaluation of patients across all age groups. A comprehensive patient assessment is essential for the effective implementation of care protocols. Respiratory therapists may initiate or adjust a patient's care plan following structured orders provided by physicians.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapy procedures in accordance with established protocols and physician orders.
• Conduct thorough assessments of patients to ensure optimal care delivery.
• Document all patient interactions and department logs accurately.
• Keep up with technological advancements relevant to respiratory care.
• Foster positive patient experiences through effective communication and care techniques.
• Handle service recovery with empathy and professionalism when patient experiences do not meet expectations.

Working Environment

The role is set in a busy and fast-paced environment that serves a wide geographic area. As a Level II trauma center, the facility is equipped to handle a high volume of emergency and trauma cases. The responsibilities will include working in critical care, general care, and possibly at secondary care locations based on departmental needs.

Additional Comments

Travelers may need to float to various departments as required and may be required to work on major holidays and take additional shifts as necessary. Availability may vary based on organizational needs.
