CDOC TEMPORARY AIDE - Certified Nurses Aide (CNA) / Medication Administration (QMAP) - (DENVER)

Overview Temporary Certified Nurse Aide career focused on patient support and inmate health. The position provides a range of clinical and clerical services at Denver Reception and Diagnostic Center. Location – Duration 9 months or less. Location: Denver, CO. Responsibilities Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, mouth care, dressing, toileting, ambulation, feeding). Obtain and record vital signs and report changes to nursing staff. Assist with patient transfers, turning, and bed care. Report skin condition changes and patient complaints to the shift registered nurse. Empty catheter bags, offer fluids, record intake and output, and apply external catheters. Talk with patients to maintain orientation. Respond to call lights and inmate requests. Assist with meal distribution and linen changes. Perform dressing changes, soaks, finger‑stick blood glucose, vital signs, and pulse oximetry under RN direction. Maintain tool and material control and accountability. Participate in patient care plan development. Assist with restraining an inmate for medical reasons as needed. Provide clerical assistance: answer phones, take messages, transcribe orders, file records. Retrieve and enter data into the computerized inmate health log. Schedule inmates for necessary visits. Assist with medication delivery and pharmacy duties. Assist in inventory and stocking of supplies. Other duties as directed. Minimum Qualifications One year of full‑time Certified Nurse Aide experience. Special Qualifications Valid, active Nurse Aide (CNA) certification from Colorado. Valid, active QMAP certification from an approved training entity. Current CPR Certification (attach). Current First Aid Certification (attach). Required Competencies Self‑control and ability to work in stressful or potentially violent situations. Ability to remain alert, emotionally stable, and resilient under pressure. Tolerance for confinement and high‑stakes interaction. Effective communication with inmates and staff. Strong oral and written communication skills. Basic computer skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience as a CNA in a correctional environment. Experience with patients having multiple disabilities. Experience with senior populations. Hospice experience.
