Responsibilities include:

• Ensuring that the resident's room is ready for receiving the resident.
• Greeting residents and escorting them to their room.
• Introducing resident to his/her roommate, if any, and other residents and personnel as appropriate.
• Inventorying and marking the resident's personal possessions as instructed.
• Transporting residents to new rooms or to the receiving area and assisting with loading/unloading residents from vehicles as necessary.
• Performing all assigned tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures, and as instructed by your supervisors.
• Creating and maintaining an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift.
• Reporting all complaints and grievances made by the resident.
• Reporting occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals to your supervisor.
• Participating in and receiving the nursing report upon reporting for duty.
• Following established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids.
• Assisting residents with daily dental and mouth care.
• Assisting residents with bath functions.
• Assisting residents with personal care.
• Keeping residents dry.
• Changing bed linens.
• Assisting resident with bowel and bladder functions.
• Maintaining intake and output records as instructed.
• Performing restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed.
• Changing dressings, bandages, binders, etc., as instructed.
• Providing eye and ear care as instructed.
• Answering resident calls promptly.
• Ensuring that residents who are unable to call for help are checked frequently.
• Checking each resident routinely to ensure that his/her personal care needs are being met in accordance with his/her wishes.
• Observing and reporting the presence of pressure areas and skin breakdowns to prevent pressure ulcers.
• Reporting injuries of an unknown source, including skin tears.
• Turning bedfast residents at least every two (2) hours.
• Performing special treatment as instructed.
• Preparing residents for meals.
• Serving food trays. Assisting with feeding as indicated.
• Keeping residents' water pitchers clean and filled with fresh water and within easy reach of the resident.
• Serving between meal and bedtime snacks.
• Participating in appropriate in-service training programs prior to performing tasks that involve potential exposure to blood/body fluids.
• Washing hands before and after performing any service for the resident.
• Immediately notifying the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse of any resident leaving/missing from the facility.
• Following established safety precautions in the performance of all duties.
• Keeping excess supplies and equipment off the floor. Storing in designated areas.
• Washing wheelchairs, walkers, etc., as instructed.
• Cleaning, disinfecting, and returning all resident care equipment to its designated storage area after each use.
• Performing routine housekeeping duties.
• Reporting all hazardous conditions and equipment to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse immediately.
• Reporting all safety violations.
• Following established isolation precautions and procedures.
• Following established procedures in the use and disposal of personal protective equipment.
• Using only the equipment you have been trained to use; operating all the equipment in a safe manner.
• Informing the nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse of any changes in the resident's condition so that appropriate information can be entered on the resident's care plan.
• Maintaining the confidentiality of all resident care information.
• Ensuring that you treat all residents fairly, and with kindness, dignity, and respect.
• Ensuring that all nursing care is provided in privacy.
• Knocking before entering the resident's room.
• Reporting all grievances and complaints made by the resident to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
• Reporting all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property.
• Honoring the resident's refusal of treatment request. Reporting such requests to your supervisor.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited CNA program.

Credentials:

• Must possess an active CNA certificate valid in this state.
• Must possess a current CPR card

Other Specific Requirements:

• Must provide evidence of being free of tuberculosis infection upon hire and as set forth by the policies of the facility.
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decision when circumstances warrant such action.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
• Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.

Pay: $20.70+
