Associate Scientist position supporting CAR-T cell product development and optimization at AstraZeneca's Gaithersburg facility. Responsible for designing and executing experiments in formulation, fill/finish, and cryopreservation processes, along with quality assessment and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute experiments in formulation, fill/finish, and cryopreservation for CAR-T cell products
- Operate cell-processing, fill/finish, controlled-rate freezing, storage, and thawing equipment
- Perform quality and cellular health assays including cell count, viability, flow cytometry, and functional readouts
- Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data; maintain documentation and contribute to protocols and reports
- Collaborate with analytical, process development, and external partners to support scalable CAR-T processes
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutics, Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, or related field; or Master's degree in same fields
- 2+ years biopharmaceutical or academic lab experience with Bachelor's degree, or 0+ years with Master's degree
- Hands-on mammalian cell culture and aseptic processing experience
- Cell therapy drug product development knowledge, including formulation, filling, freezing, and thawing
- Basic cell-based analytical methods such as automated cell counting and viability assessment
- Data organization, analysis, and scientific communication abilities
- Time management and cross-functional collaboration skills
Compensation: $69,344.80–$104,017.20 base
