Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience required License: Valid state nursing license required Certifications: BCLS required Must-Have: - Oncology experience preferred but not required - EPIC experience required - Must have at least 1 year of current specialty experience for a clinical pass Description: The Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit focuses on providing comprehensive care for adult and geriatric patients. Patients commonly include those undergoing chemotherapy, managing comorbidities, and requiring continuous cardiac monitoring. Candidates must demonstrate skills in accessing and managing ports, interpreting dysrhythmias, and administering blood products. The role involves assisting with chest tube insertion and removal, managing high flow nasal cannula, and interpreting arterial blood gases. Infection prevention and fall management are critical components of patient safety in this specialty. Nurses are expected to float within units of equivalent or lower levels of acuity as needed. Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory services, physical therapy, social services, and pharmacy. Daily census on the unit consists of an average of 36 patients, all requiring a high standard of care.
