Summary You will serve as a CRANE OPERATOR in the Rigging and Equipment Operations Division of PSNS and IMF. Learn more about this agency Duties Help
- You will operate cranes at all boom lengths, angles and positions during continual location changes.
- You will work with various types and sizes of diesel engines, electric and hydraulic controls.
- You will be responsible at all times to consider the safest movement of the load, clearances along the route, position changes needed to complete the move and the effects of these changes on the cranes lifting capacities.
- You will ensure safety of the crane, the load, and personnel must be maintained at all times.
- You will understand the principles of cable drums and brake systems, function of outriggers on mobile cranes, and proper mooring and anchoring for floating cranes.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- This position requires that the selectee be willing and able to climb ladders and scaffolding.
