At Ulta Beauty, the Elite Stylist engages guests, consults on hair care, and recommends products and services, delivering quality professional services with an emphasis on the guest’s total look. The Elite Stylist supports the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager, focusing on service sales, productivity, guest service, and operating procedures. General Summary & Scope The Elite Stylist is responsible for engaging with guests, consulting with them on their hair care needs, recommending products and services, and delivering professional services with an emphasis on the guest’s total look. The role requires a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and an aptitude to learn and communicate product knowledge. Principal Duties & Responsibilities Performance Perform hair services including hair design, haircuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, brow services, and ear piercing where applicable. Meet or exceed a sales goal of $1,900 average weekly sales and productivity goals for hair services, contributing to store’s goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink. Perform product demonstrations with guests to drive sales and enhance the guest service experience. Support the execution of in-store events, promotions and marketing initiatives that deliver an unrivaled guest experience. Stay informed on new and existing industry trends, products, and services, and be knowledgeable about ingredients and benefits to better serve guests. Maintain prompt, regular attendance. People Develop guest relationships through consultations and appropriate retail and service recommendations. Serve all guests, including walk‑in guests, in a timely and efficient manner. Partner with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a total-store and well‑rounded guest experience. Establish professional peer and brand partner relationships that foster collaboration in delivering exceptional guest service. Share the benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app, with guests. Attend mandatory training and meetings for continuous professional development. Process Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards. Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures before, during, and after services; ensure compliance with state board guidelines. Follow established service protocols to ensure a consistent and exceptional guest experience. Use booking and clientele systems to schedule guests for return services and events. Communicate any supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness at all times. Maintain outstanding store operational standards, including cleanliness of the salon, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, break area, and other assigned areas. Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code. Protect company assets by following loss prevention best practices and providing exceptional guest service. Execute other operational tasks as directed. Job Qualifications Education Cosmetology license. Experience Previous relevant work experience is required. Skills Proficiency with latest salon techniques for haircutting, hair color, lightening, styling, texture, treatment, extensions, makeup, brow services, and ear piercing where applicable. Proficiency with use of equipment and chemicals needed for technical work. Proficiency in demonstrating, recommending and selling professional hair care and makeup products. Developed communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and build clientele. Special Position Requirements Work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Working Conditions Continuous mobility during shift. Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs. during shift. Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting during shift. Ability to stand for long periods of time during shift. Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects during shift.
