Job Description About The Site The Nelson Energy Center is a 600 MW combined cycle power generation facility using GE’s 7FA gas turbine platform. The facility is located in the borough of Rock Falls, Illinois (about 100 miles west of Chicago). Position Overview As the Maintenance Manager you will direct a team in the maintenance of the Nelson Energy Center. You will provide leadership and direction to the maintenance staff. This position reports to the Plant Manager. Responsibilities Oversight and supervision of Nelson Energy personnel in all aspects of the maintenance of the station. Provide leadership and direction of plant maintenance during all routine, predictive, preventative, emergency and outage maintenance activities. Determine, develop and implement short and long term maintenance strategies for the plant in coordination with the operations manager. Schedule maintenance activities by proactively identifying, through routine monitoring of plant equipment to prevent unexpected forced outages. Has direct responsibility for the planning, scheduling and execution of all station outages including work performed by plant personnel and contractors. Execute, maintain and continually improve the plants predictive maintenance monitoring systems including oil analysis, vibration analysis, thermography, etc. Implement and administer the site computerized maintenance management system (EAM), coordinate the identification of critical spare part procurement, manage inventory in a manner consistent with plant needs. Develop and continually improve maintenance procedures, PM’s, audit and manages EAM backlog of work orders. Coordinate and supervise the activities of all subcontractors to ensure cost is controlled and the quality of the work meets stated standards. Project manager for all planned outages. To act in the capacity of the Duty Manager in rotation with other managers. Personnel Supervision Lead by example in all areas, ensuring standards are maintained with regard to personnel and safety, stewardship of the plant, equipment availability, and team work. Develop, train and supervise O&M Techs to ensure a qualified staff is in place to maintain the station. Assist in establishing goals and expectations for O&M Techs’ performance. Observe, document, coach and provide frequent feedback to personnel regarding their performance. Administration Organize plant warehouse and order initial tools, materials, consumables and spare parts inventory. Perform routine audits of spare parts and materials as per plant procedures. Ensure that tracking functions including combustion turbine factored fired starts, hours, etc., are performed to standards. Manage necessary training programs to improve maintenance skills of the O&M Technicians. Administer the training and qualifications for the technical skills training programs including electrical, instrument and controls and mechanical. Required Skills Minimum of eight (8) years experience in the power generation industry. High School diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of combined cycle power plant maintenance and operations is preferred. Commissioning experience in a combined cycle facility a plus. Experience with EAM or similar maintenance management tracking software, preferably associated with power plant maintenance. Specific knowledge of the maintenance requirements of 7FA combustion turbines a plus. Ability to handle daily communication of expectations, coach employees, provide feedback and work collaboratively with plant staff. Communication and interpersonal skills to manage and motivate employees and use oral and written communication to communicate objectives and action plans. Work background must include demonstrated progressively increasing responsibilities. High degree of flexibility and the capacity to work in a rapidly changing and ambiguous environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future. This is a safety sensitive position. Base Pay 135,000.00 - 175,000.00 USD Annual Bonus: 10% - 40% The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills. In addition to base pay, the total annual compensation package may also include eligibility to participate in our bonus program(s) which are designed to reward individual and company performance.
