Staff Pharmacist – Long-Term Care Pharmacy (5month contract)

Location : Norfolk, VA

Pay: $60–$65/hour

Shifts:

10:00 AM – 6:30 PM

2:00 PM – 10:30 PM

Rotating weekends required

Position Summary

The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for the daily dispensing and verification of prescription medications in a long-term care pharmacy. This role ensures compliance with state and federal regulations while providing clinical support and delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care.

Key Responsibilities

Verify the accuracy of prescription orders, medication packaging, and labeling.

Dispense medications in compliance with pharmacy policies and regulatory requirements.

Maintain accurate patient medication profiles and documentation.

Assist with controlled substance inventory and regulatory compliance.

Provide drug information and clinical support to healthcare providers and pharmacy staff.

Prepare or oversee sterile IV medications, as applicable.

Document clinical interventions and communications in patient records.

Participate in evening, weekend, and holiday rotation as scheduled.

Qualifications Required

Active Pharmacist license in good standing in the state of practice.

Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited program.

Strong knowledge of state and federal pharmacy regulations.

Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Preferred

Long-term care or acute care pharmacy experience.

IV admixture experience.

Management experience.

Experience with FrameworkLTC and Microsoft Office.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.

Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and additional hours as needed.
