Term Assistant or Associate Professor of Dental Hygiene

The University of Alaska Anchorage, School of Preventative and Therapeutic Sciences, invites applications for a faculty member to teach and mentor students in the Dental Hygiene program. The candidate will advise prospective and current students, deliver didactic and clinical instruction across classroom, laboratory, clinical and online settings, and contribute to program development and daily operations. Key Responsibilities Provide advising and support to Dental Hygiene students. Deliver instruction in classroom, laboratory, clinical and online environments. Develop, evaluate, and enhance program curricula and assessments. Participate in program administration including organization, evaluation, and continuous improvement. Collaborate with faculty, students, and community partners to foster a supportive academic environment. Maintain current clinical dental hygiene skills and proficiency with current technologies. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in dental hygiene or a related field. Current Alaska Dental Hygiene License or Dental License. Current Alaska certification in Local Anesthesia (or Dental License). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or equivalent. Strong instructional skills capable of teaching in various settings. Collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in Blackboard, dental software, and Microsoft Office tools. Position Details This is a term‑funded, union‑represented faculty position covering nine months per year, with salary based on education and experience. The position is reviewed annually for contract renewal at the University’s discretion.
