Lead Applied AI Engineer / .NET Architect

Location: Nashville, TN or Tampa, FL – Hybrid
Pay Rate: $145/hr on W2
Experience: 10+ Years – Advanced/Expert Level
Travel: Approximately 10% travel between Nashville and Tampa

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Applied AI Engineer / .NET Architect to lead the design, development, integration, and delivery of enterprise-scale AI-enabled applications and services .

The ideal candidate will combine strong software engineering and architecture expertise with hands-on experience in Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Agentic AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, AI orchestration frameworks, and cloud-native application development .

This is a senior hands-on engineering role requiring strong technical leadership, architecture expertise, and the ability to establish engineering standards while mentoring and guiding development teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and deliver enterprise-grade Generative AI and LLM-powered applications .
• Design and implement Agentic AI solutions , including AI agents, multi-step workflows, and orchestration patterns.
• Build and optimize RAG pipelines , including embeddings, retrieval, grounding, and vector database integration.
• Integrate LLMs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and/or open-source models into enterprise applications.
• Develop AI-enabled applications and services using Python and/or C#/.NET .
• Utilize LangChain, LangGraph , and related AI orchestration frameworks.
• Develop and integrate APIs, microservices, and cloud-native applications .
• Build and deploy AI solutions using Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Microsoft Copilot technologies , and other enterprise AI platforms.
• Implement prompt engineering, model/LLM evaluation, testing, monitoring, and quality controls .
• Apply Responsible AI principles, including governance, security, privacy, transparency, human oversight, and model evaluation.
• Evaluate AI-generated outputs using critical thinking and human judgment to ensure accuracy, quality, and appropriate use.
• Identify opportunities to leverage AI for automation, productivity improvement, decision support, and delivery acceleration.
• Establish and continuously improve engineering standards and best practices .
• Lead technical design and architecture discussions while mentoring and guiding engineering team members.
• Support cloud-native solutions using Azure, AWS, or GCP , including their respective AI/ML services.
• Apply modern engineering practices including unit testing, integration testing, Infrastructure as Code, and cost-aware/FinOps engineering .

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of overall software engineering/architecture experience at an advanced or expert level.
• 6+ years of full-stack/software engineering experience with several of the following:

  • APIs / Microservices

  • LangChain / LangGraph
• 3+ years of hands-on AI/ML and Agentic AI application development experience .

  • LLM Evaluation
  • AI Orchestration
• 3+ years of cloud-native engineering experience using Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience with enterprise AI services such as Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, or Google Vertex AI .
• Strong understanding of Responsible AI, AI governance, security, privacy, transparency, and human oversight .
• Experience developing and integrating AI-enabled applications in enterprise environments.
• Proven experience establishing engineering standards and leading/mentoring technical teams .
• Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong experience with Azure OpenAI and Azure AI Foundry .
• Experience with Microsoft Copilot technologies .
• Strong Python and/or C#/.NET development background.
• Experience with LangChain and LangGraph .
• Experience with application-level Infrastructure as Code (IaC) .
• Understanding of FinOps and cost-aware cloud engineering .
• Experience building secure, scalable, production-ready enterprise AI applications.
• Ability to stay current with emerging GenAI, Agentic AI, LLM, and cloud AI technologies .
