Clinical Pharmacist PRN

Position Overview We are seeking a Pharmacist to provide prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals as required for patient care in accordance with professional standards and practices. The pharmacist ensures proper storage and distribution of drugs, advises and relates drug information within the limits of professional practice, and models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values. Responsibilities Process orders and prescriptions to provide medications and pharmaceutical supplies ordered by physicians and authorized medical practitioners. Provide clinical expertise to evaluate and improve drug usage and therapeutic outcomes. Advise physicians, healthcare staff, students, and patients in the safe administration of medication. Follow established procedures for medication safety and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, compliance activities, and policies and procedures. Perform other job functions as assigned or requested. Education and Formal Training Required – Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy. Preferred – Doctorate in Pharmacy. Experience Preferred – No prior work experience. Licenses and Certifications Required – Licensed Pharmacist, Tennessee Board of Pharmacy. Preferred – Licensed Pharmacist, Mississippi Board of Pharmacy. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Understands and interprets complex written materials and technical reports. Demonstrates exceptional customer service and ability to interact effectively with physicians, patients, and healthcare staff. Ability to work with information systems, automated and technical pharmacy equipment. Demonstrated ability to work independently and consistently exercise sound judgment and initiative in a wide range of circumstances. Effective planning with strong scheduling and organizing skills. Supervision Guides the daily activities of pharmacy technicians and/or students in the assigned work area. Physical Demands Medium work – Exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently. Requires good balance, coordination, close visual acuity and frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact. Exposure to patient body fluids and hazardous or poisonous materials; ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
