R&D Manager

Agilent seeks an R&D Manager to lead a globally distributed software development team building SaaS applications, data pipelines, and integrations for laboratory instruments and enterprise systems. The role combines people leadership, operational management, and cross-functional alignment across product, engineering, and stakeholder organizations.
Responsibilities
- Manage operations, priorities, staffing, and delivery execution for assigned software R&D team
- Provide direct people leadership, coaching, performance management, and career development for engineers and technical contributors
- Partner with product management, architecture, quality, and other stakeholders to align plans with business objectives
- Lead development and delivery of SaaS applications, analytics, data pipelines, integrations, and enterprise software capabilities
- Establish team operating practices to improve planning discipline, execution predictability, quality, and cross-functional coordination
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field
- Minimum 2 years of formal or informal leadership experience with people, projects, or technical teams
- Software development or technical delivery experience in SaaS, enterprise applications, analytics, or data platforms
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, agile delivery, release planning, and cross-functional product development
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, resolve ambiguity, and lead globally distributed teams
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with technical and non-technical audiences
Compensation: $150,000-$234,375 base (US); $118,073-$208,294 CAD (Canada); eligible for bonuses, stock, and benefits
