Principal Electrical Engineer - Power GenerationOglethorpe Power is expanding our generation fleet with advanced Frame combustion turbine-based power plants, including F-Class and H-Class technologies. We're looking for an experienced electrical engineering leader to help support what's next.This is a high-impact role supporting major capital projects, electrical testing, predictive and preventive maintenance programs, and the long-term reliability of critical generation assets serving communities across Georgia.The Principal Electrical Engineer provides senior technical leadership across OPC's power generation fleet, partnering with plant teams, engineering, operations, maintenance, contractors, and project stakeholders to solve complex problems, improve performance, and support safe, reliable plant operations.What You'll DoLead complex electrical engineering work supporting generation assets and major capital projectsProvide technical direction for electrical systems, equipment, testing, troubleshooting, and reliability initiativesSupport predictive and preventive maintenance strategies to improve long-term asset performancePartner with plant operations and maintenance teams to resolve technical issues and improve reliabilityReview engineering studies, designs, specifications, standards, and contractor deliverablesIdentify technical risks, recommend solutions, and support continuous improvement across OPC's fleetServe as a senior technical resource for electrical engineering questions, standards, and best practicesWhat You BringStrong technical judgment and practical electrical engineering expertiseExperience supporting power generation assets, plant operations, or large industrial facilitiesAbility to lead complex technical work across multiple stakeholdersA hands-on, solutions-focused approach to engineering challengesClear communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiencesOwnership, accountability, and a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and long-term performanceEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field required10+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience requiredPower generation maintenance or plant engineering experience preferredExperience supporting capital projects, electrical testing, troubleshooting, or reliability programs preferredProfessional Engineer license or advanced technical certifications preferred, if applicableSkills & KnowledgeElectrical systems, equipment, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance practicesPredictive and preventive maintenance programsPower generation systems and plant reliability practicesMajor capital project support, engineering reviews, and contractor coordinationEngineering standards, specifications, studies, and design documentationRisk identification, root cause analysis, and practical problem-solvingCross-functional communication with plant, operations, maintenance, engineering, and project teamsAbility to travel approximately 20% to plant sites and project locations
