Job Details Job Title: Cleaning Assistant Department: Estates and Facilities Directorate – Accommodation & Commercial Services Job Number: 26000821 Grade: Grade 1 Employment Type: Permanent, Onsite Only – Part Time Salary: £24,479 pro‑rata Closing Date: Wednesday 1st July 2026 Shifts Permanent: 1 × 20 hrs, 5 days out of 7, 52 weeks, 6:00–10:00 am, Monday–Friday Permanent: 1 × 10 hrs, 5 days out of 7, 52 weeks, 6:00–9:00 am, Monday–Friday Permanent: 1 × 2 hrs, 1 day out of 7, 52 weeks, 6:00–8:00 am, Saturday Permanent (start September 2026): 1 × 14 hrs, 2 days out of 7, 30 weeks, 6:00–2:00 pm, Saturday & Sunday Permanent (start September 2026): 1 × 6 hrs, 2 days out of 7, 30 weeks, 5:00–8:00 pm, Saturday & Sunday Fixed Term: 1 × 15 hrs, 5 days out of 7, 52 weeks, 6:00–9:00 am, Monday–Friday – until 31 March 2027 Responsibilities Provide cleaning and housekeeping services across university premises, including offices, common areas, and student accommodation. Use cleaning equipment, digital devices and software, following training and safety guidelines. Maintain health and safety standards, wear protective clothing and equipment, and identify hazards. Follow supervisors’ instructions to execute tasks efficiently and accurately. Work independently and as part of a team, supporting colleagues and raising issues to senior staff. Be flexible with shift coverage, including evenings and weekends, when required. Contribute to equality, diversity and inclusion values of the university. Qualifications and Skills Good spoken and written communication skills. Basic numeracy and literacy skills. Personal development to maintain skills. Ability to work alone and in a team, managing time to meet deadlines. Ability to follow instructions accurately. Digital skills, including internet and e‑mail.
