PainterAmentum is seeking a Painter located in the Williamsburg area of Virginia. The Painter will paint and redecorate walls, woodwork and fixtures. The painter must be knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paint required for different applications, preparing surface for painting by removing old finish or by placing putty or filler in nail holes and interstices, and applying paint with spray gun or brush.Job Requirements:Mix colors, oils, white lead and other paint ingredients to obtain proper color or consistency.Stand or kneel for extended periods of timeErect scaffolding/ladders safely, operate ventilation equipment, and clean up tools and work areas dailyApply paint, stains, varnish, and sealers using brushes, rollers, and spray guns.Calculate paint needs and blend materials for the correct color and texture.Perform structural repairs (e.g., drywall repairs) and remove old finishes, including stripping or sandingWork may involve working at heights (ladders/scaffolding)Covering trim, floors, furniture and other surfaces with masking tape, drop cloths and other protective coverings to keep them free of paintSetting up ventilators and other safety equipment to protect Painters from unhealthy fumesRemoving and reinstalling fixtures (e.g., doorknobs, electric switch covers) as necessaryFollowing safeguards, rules and regulationsMinimum Requirements:Training from a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.Previous experience as a painter (residential or commercial) is preferredFamiliarity with different paints, coatings, and application toolsAbility to lift heavy materials, climb ladders, and stand for long periods.Ability to obtain or have a government issued clearance at time of applicationHigh School Diploma or GEDValid Real ID drivers LicenseService Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act.
