Job Description and Duties

Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee’s monthly salary by 3% in exchange for leave credits. Under the general direction and supervision of the Supervising Engineering Geologist of the Earthquake Engineering Program in the California Geological Survey (CGS), the Senior Engineering Geologist Supervisor, System Operations Unit, is responsible for managing the data acquisition from seismic stations in the field and archiving raw data, incorporating the correct metadata, as well as coordinating with partner network for sharing metadata and contributing to the Earthquake Early Warning systems and other projects.

This position is contingent on budget approval.

Working Conditions

This position is located in Sacramento, CA and is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule, with employees required to work in-person at 801 K St Sacramento, CA. At least two days of remote work and up to four days of in-office work per week is the available hybrid telework schedule for this position. Alternative work locations will not be considered.

Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview but must show proof of residence in California prior to being eligible for appointment.
