Marion County Health and Human Services is recruiting for a Behavioral Health Aide/CRM-I for His Place, a substance use disorder treatment program with supported housing for fathers and their children. The Behavioral Health Aide/CRM-I is an important part of the treatment team, providing peer support, motivation, coaching, and recovery-oriented services to individuals participating in treatment. This position requires the ability to create and maintain a safe, structured, caring, and supportive environment while modeling healthy behaviors, accountability, and recovery-focused living. In this role, the Behavioral Health Aide/CRM-I will support individuals and families in the His Place program by assisting clients in developing life skills, strengthening parenting and recovery supports, managing daily stressors, accessing community resources, and building a foundation for long-term recovery and stability. This position also assists with coordinating childcare services, supporting family-centered programming, transporting clients to community appointments, and working collaboratively with treatment staff and community partners to support client success. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, strong communication skills, compassion and a commitment to supporting individuals and families impacted by substance use disorders. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Assists in assessing health and social service needs of a specific population within a supported housing program where clients reside and receive SUD treatment services. Refers clients to appropriate resource; advocates to obtain required services as necessary; provides information and education on health-related issues.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the general direction of a supervisor who assigns work, establishes goals and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this class.

Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the following

  • Foster a caring and supportive environment for all clients and their families. Assist clients in developing organizational skills by assigning and ensuring the completion of daily chores and weekly deep cleaning tasks. Support healthy meal preparation by guiding clients in menu planning and assigning cook-day responsibilities to promote shared accountability within the program. Supervise and observe clients during the self-administration of prescribed and over-the-counter medications.
  • Facilitate childcare services for all His Place residents and outpatient clients attending onsite services, including treatment groups, individual appointments, and other treatment-related activities. Provide supervision for Child Welfare-involved clients during visitation with their children. Ensure all childcare and family support services are provided in a safe, supportive, and recovery-focused environment.
  • Support the primary counselor in conducting client admissions and discharges, including completing an inventory of personal belongings upon admission and discharge. Assign or inspect rooms to ensure they meet client and family needs (e.g., providing or removing hygiene products, towels, bedding, bassinets, cribs, toddler beds).
  • Assist clients in accessing outreach resources, schedule appointments, provide or arrange transportation services for clients to attend community appointments, services, or events.
  • Organize and conduct safety drills (e.g., fire, earthquake, and other evacuation procedures) and maintain updated logs. Perform monthly checks on smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. Complete monthly facility inspections to ensure safety and compliance. Maintain emergency supplies and inspection records to ensure emergency preparedness.

Response Level 2: In the event of an emergency, employee makes a reasonable effort to report to work. Employee may be required to perform duties outside of their regularly assigned duties. Employee may be requested to work an extended or flexible schedule. Staff at this response level must complete Incident Command System 100 and 700 on-line or in-person training.

Requirements for the Position

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
  1. Graduation from high school, or equivalent; AND
  2. One year of experience (paid or unpaid) working with the client population served by the position, or post high school training in health occupations, behavioral or social sciences; OR
  3. Any satisfactory combination of work, education, training, or experience relevant to the position, as determined by Marion County.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • The finalist for this position may be required to pass a criminal history background check; however, conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual for this position.
  • Must possess a current driver's license in the applicant's state of residence and an acceptable driving history. Marion County will obtain a copy of the driving record for all qualified applicants from Driver and Motor Vehicle Services and review the driving record according to the Marion County policy and procedure for Driving on County Business.   • Must be able to obtain Certified Recovery Mentor credential within 90 days of date of hire.

  • This is a full-time position, which is eligible for overtime.
  • Typical Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., depending upon the needs of the department and program.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge and understanding of general mental health issues of the clients with whom the incumbent interacts; knowledge of, or training in, the field of health, social sciences, psychology, or substance abuse; ability to understand and carry out directions and instructions; ability to maintain confidentiality; interest and skill in providing services to people; ability to read and write English; must be willing to work hours conducive to reaching the identified population; ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with clients, coworkers, and other agencies.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Operates a motor vehicle and maintains an acceptable driving history; sees using depth perception; stands; sits; moves about the work area; bends forward; climbs 1 floor of stairs; operates a keyboard; speaks with a clear and audible voice; reads a 12-pt. font; hears a normal speech level; works in areas that may be exposed to secondhand smoke.
PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS
Marion County is a qualifying public employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program, full-time employees working at the County may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Student Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. VISA SPONSORSHIP
Marion County does not offer VISA sponsorship. Within three days of hire, you will be required to complete the US Department of Homeland Security's I-9 form confirming authorization to work in the United States.
