Location: Avera Queen of Peace Hospital Worker Type: Regular Work Shift: 7:15 AM, every 6th weekend/holiday/call rotation; 72 hrs/2 weeks Pay Pay Range: $32.50 – $48.50 per hour (actual rate depends on experience). Position Highlights Possibly eligible for a $10,000 sign‑on bonus Student Loan Repayment Program: Avera may contribute $167 per month, up to $10,000, to help pay down your principal balance Job Overview Delivers nursing care by developing a nursing diagnosis; establishing nursing care objectives; defining nursing interventions; providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends to understand patient conditions, medications, and self‑care skills; noting changing conditions and needs; re‑evaluating care objectives. Responsibilities Review physician prescriptions and communicate the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to other members of the health‑care team. Coordinate with other healthcare providers and provide physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families. Obtain medical histories, examine patients, and document patient condition, psychological status, and influencing social factors. Develop nursing diagnoses, establish care objectives, and define nursing interventions, schedules, and timetables. Instruct patients, families, and friends on condition, medications, and self‑care skills; answer questions; provide information and resources. Evaluate patient care by measuring outcomes against standards; review records; note changing conditions and re‑evaluate objectives. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by adhering to infection‑control policies, medication administration and storage procedures, controlled substance regulations, and legal regulations. Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Keep patient care equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs. Maintain supplies by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and stocking items. Maintain competence in nursing capabilities as outlined by leadership. Essential Qualifications Must be able to work the specified hours, perform each essential job function satisfactorily, and communicate effectively with others. Requires adequate visual acuity and hearing to perform job duties. Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience Registered Nurse (RN) – Board of Nursing license in the state of practice (active license required) Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience 1–3 years of experience working in a clinical environment.
