The Center for Access Services (CAS) is dedicated to helping students overcome non-academic barriers impacting their ability to persist in their educational journey. By increasing self-sufficiency through direct support and resource referrals, CAS aims to support college efforts to improve completion and graduation rates. CAS works to address food insecurity, including the management and operation of the Ram Mini Mart to help students with supplemental groceries, personal hygiene products, and other basic necessities. Under the general supervision of the Director, the Special Programs Coordinator coordinates and oversees the operations of the Ram Mini Mart, food security/hunger awareness initiatives and events, and nutrition education programs. This position is responsible for administrative work, coordinating events, activities and operations, assisting with budget planning and grant administration, assessing food security and implementing strategies that promote student persistence and success. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: Coordinates a special program/project pertaining to an assigned department or division Provide students with supplemental groceries, personal hygiene products and other basic needs through the Ram Mini Mart. Assess student needs related to food insecurity and provide college and community supports and resources to address barriers to their educational success. Serve as the ServSafe Manager, supervise all interactions within the Ram Mini Mart to ensure compliance with the highest food safety standards, including compliance with the Department of Health. Work closely with external food pantry partners and donors to secure nutritious food and other basic needs. Manage a high volume of incoming referrals while maintaining patience and a heightened level of professionalism and customer service. Develop and facilitate formal and informal nutrition and food security/hunger education events aimed at teaching practical nutrition, basic cooking skills, meal planning, food safety, and food budgeting in accordance with USDA's MyPlate and current dietary guidelines. May include, but is not limited to: cooking demonstrations, tabling events, workshops, presentations, classroom visits, etc. Create accessible, engaging visual aids, handouts, and presentation materials to enhance the learning experience. Performs administrative tasks associated with department activities. Manage and oversee daily operations of the Ram Mini Mart logistics, including inventory procurement, stocking and distribution; maintaining safety standards; collecting and compiling statistical data, etc. Drafts monthly, semester, and/or annual reports on program usage, event/initiative assessment and opportunities for improvement. Interacts with various agencies/individuals (i.e. - attends meetings and participates on committees; communicates with supervisor, employees, other departments, students, faculty, other academic institutions, local businesses, employment agencies, community organizations, the public, outside agencies, and other individuals to coordinate activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems). Coordinates assigned staff, work studies, volunteers, etc. (i.e. - Assist staff with gaining ServSafe Certification prior to working at the Ram Mini Mart; monitor all certificates of completion on a semesterly basis; instructs workers in performance of duties according to established standards; plans/implements training activities; plans the work of others; prioritizes, assigns, reviews, and coordinates work; assists with recruiting, interviewing, selecting work studies, volunteers, etc.). Maintains professional knowledge in applicable areas including food safety, distribution and operations (i.e. - maintains a working knowledge of the assigned area; researches new trends and advances in the profession; reads professional literature; attends conferences, workshops, and training sessions). Performs miscellaneous tasks (i.e. - participates in meetings, college committees and professional development activities, etc.). Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those listed above, which do not alter the basic level of the position. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Business Administration, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other field related to area of assignment; with three (3) years of experience and/or training involving nutrition education, food pantry operations, office management, customer service, curriculum development, grant administration, program/project management, event planning, administrative work in an academic environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which will involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight in warehouse, office and pantry settings. Knowledge of laws/policies pertaining to food safety standards. A working knowledge of database applications and software. Experience with data collection and compiling statistical information. Ability to build rapport and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with students, internal and external colleagues, and community partners. Possess strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, time-management, prioritization, customer service and organizational skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to FERPA regulations. Ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals, traditionally underrepresented or under-served, first-generation, low-socioeconomic, or non-traditional populations. Must be team oriented and detail oriented. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: A Master's degree in social work, nutrition, dietetics, or related discipline. Credentials in Dietician or Nutrition Education. Five(5)years of demonstrated experience in nutrition education, food pantry operations, office management, customer service, and/or higher education. Proficiency in computer applications and higher education data software systems, including, but not limited to: Pantry Soft, Colleague CRM, Google Platforms, Zoom, and Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Word, OneNote, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint). Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse student population and a demonstrated commitment to equity.
