CTE Teacher Technology Education Teacher: PLTW Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, Chapel Hill, North Carolina Reports To: School Principal Salary Grade: Teacher, eligible for local supplement Work Location: East Chapel Hill High School FLSA Status: Exempt Work Schedule: 10 Month Position Summary: At CHCCS, a teacher's goal is to provide each student with the help, counsel, and learning experience needed to make progress toward educational goals established, to create a flexible instructional program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, and to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to live a rewarding life in an ever-changing world. Essential Duties Develop lesson plans and instructional materials Provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student or pupil Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students or pupils Establish and maintain standards of student or pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate these to students or pupils Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media Evaluate students' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student progress and interpret the school program Identify pupils' needs and cooperate with other professional staff in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and through self-selected professional growth activities Participate in curriculum development programs as required Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities Instruct pupils in classroom, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education, and other appropriate learning activities Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize available instructional time Collaborate with colleagues to promote an optimal learning environment for pupils Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures Education / Experience Requirements Holds or is eligible to hold a N.C. teaching license Bachelor's Degree required Prior teaching experience preferred Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable Physical Requirements Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards This document provides descriptive information about the above Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School position.
