Location: Claremont, NC (Full-Time/On-site)

Hourly Rate: $20/hour

Work Hours: 7:00 am – 4:00 pm M-F

Matlock's Used Parts is looking for a dedicated Automotive Fluid Technician (Drainer) to work side by side processing incoming vehicles before they're staged for parts. Using vehicle lifts, you'll safely raise each vehicle and remove the battery, then drain and recover fluids — engine oil, transmission fluid, antifreeze, gas, and refrigerant — using dedicated recovery equipment for each. You'll also remove exhaust systems and catalytic converters, drain and inspect rear axles for gear condition, and help keep an accurate count of vehicles processed to hit team goals.

This work happens inside a building that isn't climate-controlled, so you'll be on your feet moving from vehicle to vehicle in changing temperatures throughout the shift. It's a physically demanding, hands-on role built for someone who works well with a teammate and takes pride in a clean, organized, safety-compliant workspace.

We're looking for someone who shows up ready to work, pays attention to the details, and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•         Use vehicle lifts to safely raise vehicles for processing

•         Remove the battery from vehicles and place it neatly in the designated area

•         Drain engine oil and transmission fluid from vehicles

•         Drain gas and antifreeze from vehicles using air-powered machines

•         Drain freon from vehicles using a recovery machine

•         Drain and inspect rear axles

•         Use a reciprocating saw to remove exhaust from vehicles

•         Monitor fluid collection levels and communicate proactively when containers are nearing capacity

•         Track and record the number of vehicles processed each shift to help the team meet departmental goals

•         Partner closely with a teammate to keep vehicles moving efficiently through the process

•         Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant work area

Physical Requirements

·       Ability to stand and remain on your feet for the full shift, moving continually between vehicles throughout the building

·       Ability to bend and stretch throughout the shift

·       Ability to lift 50+ lbs.

·       Ability to work in a building that is not climate-controlled — hot in summer months, cold in winter months

·       Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

·       Comfortable getting hands dirty as part of the daily work

Minimum Qualifications

•        Excellent communication and teamwork skills — this role works in a two-person team to complete shared goals

•         Reliable and punctual, with the ability to commit to a consistent Monday–Friday schedule

•         Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen

Preferred Qualifications

•         Prior experience in auto technician or fluid technician work, helpful for identifying and locating parts and components

•         Familiarity with automotive systems (engines, transmissions, drivelines, exhaust systems)

•         Previous experience in a physically demanding, hands-on role
