Person Physician Practices With Person Memorial Hospital

Performs routine clinical and administrative duties in support of assigned area or office.

• Under the supervision of physician or nurse, assists with performing patient assessments and treatments.
• Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition. Documents patient care given.
• Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Maintains examination areas.
• Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
• Escort patients to exam rooms; take histories and vital signs; prepare patients for examination
• Assist providers in examination and treatment of patients, minor surgeries, and physicals.
• Utilize electronic medical software to record patient information in compliance with HIPAA/confidentiality guidelines.
• Dispense medication as directed by providers.
• Collect and process lab specimens.
• Perform glucose monitoring.
• Communicate with patient, pharmacy, and physician inquiries within the scope of practice; involve provider as needed.
• Perform accurate and timely input of data into EMR.

Reports to: Physician Practice Manager

FLSA: Non-exempt

Minimum Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant required

Required Skills:

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS) required

Certification as a Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant.
