We are seeking a compassionate and energetic DSP (Direct Support Professional) - HCBS (Home and Community-Based Services) to empower individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives. In this vital role, you will provide personalized support that promotes safety, well-being, and community engagement. Your dedication will help clients achieve their goals through meaningful interactions, skill development, and assistance with daily activities. Duties

• Provide direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes and community settings, ensuring safety and promoting independence.

• Support behavioral health needs by implementing behavior management strategies and de-escalation techniques to foster positive behavior.

• Facilitate social engagement activities that enhance communication skills, social interactions, and community participation.

• Maintain detailed documentation of support provided, client progress, incidents, and daily activities in compliance with agency policies.

• Respond promptly to client needs during emergencies or health concerns by following first aid and CPR protocols.

• Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other service providers to coordinate care plans tailored to individual goals.

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, or cognitive disabilities is highly preferred.

• Background in special education or behavioral health supports is advantageous.

• Prior home & community care experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities or developmental disabilities is desirable.

• Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and collaboration with team members.

• High School Diploma, GED, or Degree Required

Working Conditions

Work is conducted in the community or home of the youth being serviced.

Training Requirements:

Prior to Service Delivery

• Mandated Reporter Training

Within 6 months of hire

• Personal Safety

• Safety in the Community

• Strength Based Approached

• Suicide Prevention

• Domestic Violence Signs and Basic Interventions

• Trauma Informed Care

Essential Outcomes:

• Submit progress notes, service plans, and service provider logs within set forth-required timeframes.

• Maintain open communication with other service providers (e.g., Care Manager, other service providers and Supervisory Team) and maintain a strength-based approach to support the overall health and wellbeing of the child and family.

• Report to work at scheduled time
