About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year required License: Compact license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS Must-Have: - Previous charge experience preferred - Experience with patient ratios of 4-5 - Community hospital experience required - Travel experience required Description: All previous perm employees must be separated from any affiliated facility for a minimum of 3 months to qualify for a travel position. First-time travelers are not accepted. Traveler must be open to floating to different campuses. Weekends are required every other week. Typical emergency department patients include adult and pediatric ER, ambulance triage, ED holding, and lobby triage. The department has 11 hallway beds and a total of 29 beds. Common procedures include breathing treatments, chest tube set-up/care, CPAP/BiPap, procedure sedation, and RSI - rapid sequence intubation drugs. Additional responsibilities include trach care, ventilator management, blood and blood products administration, cardioversion, defibrillation, CRRT/dialysis, and obtaining 12-lead EKGs. Travelers should expect a daily census of approximately 115 patients. Interdisciplinary support is available from respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, and pharmacy. Patient diagnoses typically encountered in the emergency department include a wide range of adult and pediatric emergencies. Emergency experience in trauma level I and II is preferred. Candidates should have experience in CPAP/BiPAP management, care for ventilated patients, and starting and maintaining IVs. References covering 1 year during the compliance process are required. Modules are included as part of ongoing training and must be completed prior to start. Time should be self-reported and completion tracked in transcripts.
