The Manager of Wellness and Fitness Programs is responsible for the daily operation of the Fitness Center and Student Wellness Programming of the Student Recreation Center. This position requires coordinating, implementing, and publicizing student engagement programming that satisfies the needs and interests of the University community. In addition, the manager coordinates the scheduling of associated fitness programs and approximately 10 staff, coordinates activities, and provides an interface between students, academic departments, athletics, intramurals, alumni, faculty, staff, and the community. Works in close cooperation with students, faculty, and staff, especially the Assistant Director of Recreation Center, to provide and encourage participation in fitness and wellness programs and activities. Responsible for the development of programming to support these efforts. - Plan, develop and implement new fitness and wellness programs as student engagement activities as determined by ongoing assessment of student interest and needs. Evaluate all programs and services to determine overall effectiveness and decide on possible changes as deemed appropriate.
- Supervise all fitness equipment and areas. Develop and execute a system of routine maintenance, a schedule of daily, weekly, quarterly and annual maintenance to ensure proper working condition and adherence to warranty requirements. Provide day-to-day mechanical and advanced technical support for equipment in the fitness center. Oversee routine equipment maintenance and cleaning and train others to assist. Inspect equipment and perform preventive service and repairs. Inspect cleanliness of facility and report problems. Maintain accurate service records
- In conjunction with the Director and Assistant Director of Campus Recreation Services, distributes timely and accurate information in regard to hours of operation, upcoming events/activities, safety, scheduling, and facility management aspects of the fitness facility. Provide policies/procedures for conducting activities or events within the facilities.
- Assist with the planning, development, and distribution of necessary promotional materials to encourage participation in on-campus activities. Work closely with other university entities to provide increased promotion or publicity for the wellness and fitness programs directly related to students. Maintain accurate program participant and facility records.
- Supervise wellness staff, including group exercise instructors, personal trainers, massage therapist(s), and registered dietician, fitness attendants, special events, wellness programs, and other events as requested by director and assistant director of campus recreation services by frequent on-site presence and periodic availability throughout the semester to answer questions from students and participants.
- Compile, prepare, and maintain records for student engagement activities such as participation, injuries, and incident reports.
- Act as liaison between students and director/assistant director of campus recreation in the discovering and evaluating of student needs, engagement, and feedback with regards to fitness programs, wellness services provided, and special events.

- Demonstrated knowledge base of wellness activities and fitness programs such as yoga, aerobics, personal training, etc. and organization of daily paperwork is required.

- Demonstrated experience in integrating issues relating to student development in a college/university setting, experience,

- Demonstrated experience working with a diverse group of students, staff, and community members.
- Ability to understand apply policies and procedures necessary in higher education environments.
- Experience in wellness and fitness program administration is desired, along with associated certifications in CPR/1st Aid, fitness classes, personal training, etc.
- Prior familiarity with fitness programs and the policies and structure of a typical four-year public college/university are desirable.
- Preferred experience also includes outstanding customer service and evidence of having built collaborative partnerships in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general written materials, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
- Ability to write reports and prepare and conduct verbal and visual presentation of materials.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from top management, public groups, and board of directors.
