The site director at Joelton Elementary Extended Care (JEEC) is the link between the Executive Director and the parents and staff on-site serving as person in charge on-site and primary caregiver in the afternoons. Duties of the site director include:

• Being present from 1:45 – 6:00 PM on school days and additional hours when school dismisses for a half day or is out for teacher in service days.
• Work collaboratively ensuring compliance with all applicable rules and regulations: state DHS, MNPS, federal, school, etc.. This includes generating some regular reports and distributing as required.
• Complete weekly plans (for snack, crafts, activities, and lessons), document them within ProCare (daycare management software) as well as send to Executive Director and keep a binder with weekly plans.
• While the staff is currently minimal, the site director should be able to manage and develop staff as follows:
  • Maintaining staff files that are ready for DHS review (this includes maintaining a log of training hours and certifications)
  • Periodic Reviews for staff with constructive criticism and establishment of goals
  • Involvement in the hiring/discipline/firing process as needed.
  • Encourage staff to be proactive in taking leadership roles for different activities with the students
  • On the spot training as needed for staff
  • Identify staff with leadership ability and train them in key tasks so that we have coverage in the event it is needed (this includes covering standard operating procedures as well as covering for emergencies).
• Make plans and assign tasks with ability to shift assignments as needed given conditions (attendance, weather, etc.) in order to ensure smooth daily operation.
• Ensure that important details are updated in the ProCare software relating to activities, meals, and disciplinary issues with the children.
• Be available for meetings with parents, teachers, and other individuals as needed for successful operation of the facility.
• Prepare a weekly report for administration that summarizes the week (activities, disciplinary concerns, staff concerns, etc.) along with presenting lesson plans for the following week.
• Escalate major student or staff concerns to administration immediately (this can include repeat minor offenses that merit suspension from the program along with individual major events).
• Complete and document the required emergency drills and take on the responsibility of leading in an emergency (be the person who gets the binder and supplies and locks doors as necessary).
• Be on call for the morning worker and serve as the backup morning worker when needed.
• Monitor supply and snack levels and restock as needed.
• Cultivate relationships with parents, PTO, teachers, school administration, and others and communicate with them as necessary in order to assist in operating the business.  This may involve attending after hours events (open houses, festivals, etc..), though not usually more than 10 per year.
• Collaborate with Executive Director in creation of a monthly newsletter to be distributed to program participants.
• Opportunity to grow a summer program (and earn associated commission) in order to serve our community year-round.
• Additional duties as assigned.

 
Qualifications and characteristics:

• Reliable transportation and a value for promptness
• The ability to submit to and pass periodic background checks and drug testing
• High School Diploma
• Prior management experience
• At least 2 years of childcare experience
• Ability to work alone with integrity
• Adult and Pediatric CPR/First Aid Certified
• Willingness to comply with ongoing education requirements as determined by DHS, MNPS, and JGEC
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, email, and comfort with technology and learning new software
• Enterprising individual who is motivated to take ownership of his/her role within the company
