Job Purpose Produce machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. Responsibilities Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). Program mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; set tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculate requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; prove part programs. Set up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three‑ and four‑jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicate vices; tramming heads. Verify settings by measuring positions, first‑run part, and sample workpieces; adhere to international standards. Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions. Qualifications Able to understand, read, and write NC codes and make program adjustments on the floor. Able and willing to train others and share knowledge. Demonstrates leadership characteristics. Able to proficiently operate most machine shop equipment. Able to fabricate and modify tooling such as jigs, fixtures, and templates to produce parts. Possesses advanced machine math skills. Able to travel in support of customer field services (optional).
