What You'll Be Doing Supervising the Water Systems Assistant Superintendent, Water System Operators, Maintainers, and other plant staff to ensure smooth daily operations. Ensuring compliance with all water treatment regulations through a valid Class III Water Treatment Plant Operator License. Overseeing water quality to guarantee it is free from bacteria, contaminants, and harmful chemicals for all hospital uses, including drinking, bathing, and dietary services. Managing and maintaining plant equipment to ensure all systems are operating efficiently and reliably. Providing staff with the tools, resources, and guidance needed to perform their work safely and effectively. Upholding the highest standards of safety to protect hospital staff and patients through reliable, clean, and compliant water supply. Minimum Qualifications - General Experience Five (5) years of work experience in the operation and maintenance of a Class III Water Treatment Plant and possession of a Class III Water Treatment Plant Operator license in accordance with the regulations of the Department of Public Health and possession of a Class I Water Distribution System Operator license in accordance with the regulations of the Department of Public Health. Minimum Qualifications - Special Experience Two (2) years of the General Experience must have included performing chemical and biochemical analyses of water. NOTE: For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of a Water Systems Operator. Special Requirements Incumbents in this class are required to possess and retain the State of Connecticut, Class III Water Treatment Plant Operator license. Incumbents in this class are required to posses and retain the State of Connecticut, Class I Water Distribution System Operator license. Incumbents in this class are required by the appointing authority to possess and retain all appropriate current licenses, permits and/or certificates. Incumbents in this class may be required to possess and retain specific education and/or experience to meet various certification requirements. Physical Requirements Incumbents in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity, and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties. A physical examination may be required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Incumbents in this class may have some exposure to extreme weather conditions, loud and potentially dangerous machinery, working with chemicals and exposure to toxic fumes and may be required to lift moderate to heavy weights and work in uncomfortable positions.
