The Department of Public Health (DPH) is recruiting for Registered Nurses (RN) II – Clinic – Public Health. They provide direct patient care in Public Health Clinics. Duties include assisting physicians, nurse practitioners, and other medical / nursing staff by performing a variety of activities such as taking patient histories, providing patient follow up, performing screening tests, drawing blood, administering prescribed treatment and medication, auditing services of licensed and unlicensed personnel, assessing the need for and providing immunization injections, and instructing, educating, and counseling patients on a variety of health care and medical topics. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Travel / Driver License: Travel throughout the county is required. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation. At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation. Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening. Continued Education: Additional training/coursework may be required. Licensure and Certification Requirements Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing (CA BRN). Certification: Valid Healthcare Provider level Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate (Course Completion Card) issued by the American Heart Association. Experience Requirements Six (6) months of full-time equivalent experience performing duties as a licensed RN. Applicants fluent in American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and/or Vietnamese are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional compensation is associated with positions requiring the use of bilingual skills. Testing of bilingual skills may be required to receive additional compensation. Applicants possessing a Master's degree in Nursing and experience with Microsoft Office and electronic medical records programs are strongly encouraged to apply.
