Systems and Reliability Engineer

Overview RAM Engineer position at Leidos Defense to join a diverse team solving complex reliability challenges across DoD, DARPA, NASA, and commercial programs. The role involves developing reliability artifacts throughout the system life cycle and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver impactful engineering solutions. Responsibilities Develop and deliver RAM artifacts across the system life cycle, including reliability prediction, MTTR/MTBF analysis, reliability block diagrams (RBD), reliability reports, statistics, FMEA/FMECA, FRACAS, and related analyses. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to resolve complex problems and present reliability artifacts in formal design reviews; may serve as customer liaison on programs. Work in a matrixed organization to support one or more programs, interfacing with program IPTs, customers, and line management. Work independently with significant impact on project deliverables and contribute to RAM process improvements across the RAM capability at Leidos. Contribute to the goal of integrating RAM analyses into a Model-Based Systems Engineering environment where possible. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent ABET-accredited degree. 7+ years of relevant experience with BS or 5+ years with a Master’s degree. Experience conducting RAM analyses (MTTR, MTBF, FMEA, RBD, FRACAS, power dissipation, derating). Ability to work in a highly collaborative engineering environment with multi-disciplinary teams. Experience deriving RAM requirements for complex electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical, and software systems. Experience supporting NASA, DoD, or DARPA programs. Residency in the North Alabama area or willingness to relocate to Huntsville, AL area. U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a secret security clearance. Preferred Qualifications Ability to tackle complex or ambiguous tasks, develop structured action plans, and drive them to completion with minimal supervision. Experience with programming or scripting languages (e.g., VBA, Python, MATLAB, or R) to automate RAM analyses and support data-driven decisions. Experience with Reliasoft and/or other reliability tools (e.g., Relyence). Experience with LTSpice or other circuit simulators. Experience with SysML for Model-Based Systems Engineering diagrams. Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) and/or INCOSE CSEP certification preferred. Understanding of top-down and bottom-up systems engineering processes, RAM-related risk management, test planning, and proposal development. Experience supporting Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) and Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT). Understanding of DoD acquisition processes and methods. Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent ABET-accredited degree.
